Parthenay on the River Thouet, 2017

Parthenay is a small fortified town on the River Thouet in Aquitaine. Many of the City walls have been demolished but portions of a ruined fortress still hang over the village below.

The country pate provided a wonderful lunch at a small local place.

The Porte St. Jacques and the pont St. Jacques, the main gate and the bridge through the town wall are on the via Compostella.
