Agropoli and Paestum July 2023

The historical center of Agopoli has no parking and limited access for cars. The town parking is close by and our hotel a five minute stroll away.
The streets of Agropoli are clean and well lit.

Waking in the morning to sit on our terrace and enjoy the view of the Mediterranean and the warmth of the sun.
The Castello of Agropoli in the last rays of sunset.
Breakfast on the terrace downstairs with a beautiful view of the Med. Eggs to your liking. Fresh tomatoes on fresh bread, coffee. The eggs were memorable.
Our first visit to Paestum was more than twenty years ago. It has become more organized but the allure remains.
The sign says the Temple of Neptune and one of the best preserved Greek temples in Italy. It’s amazing to walk in the footsteps of history.
Looking across the approximately 50 acres that have been excavated and were the center of the city.
The Temple of Athena is the highest point in the center of the city. An exciting visit, well worth the 15 euro per person. The weather on July 2023 was spectacular, not to hot, blue skies, never rained.

We drove to Paestum from Agropoli in less than an hour (first thing in the morning) and had no problem finding parking on the street. I worried there would not be a space left in the parking in Agropoli but on our return we had no problem parking again.

Hotel: We stayed at Borgo deli Saraceni – Domus Indomita a small B&B/Hotel in the old city of Agropoli.

Seafood Restaurant we liked: Vecchio Saracino – Carola 1801. Delicious seafood. No views on the waterfront. Just great seafood well prepared. It’s a good hike from the old city on top of the hill down to the waterfront but well worth it.
